Philadelphia Union returned to Subaru Park on Saturday night, where they drew 0-0 with Orlando City SC. The first half ended scoreless, with the Union outshooting Orlando 10-1. In the second half, the Union took ten more shots but failed to score.
Head coach Bradley Carnell tweaked his lineup for the third straight game, this time with a change up front, as Mikael Uhre started on the bench for the first time this year. In his place, Uruguayan Bruno Damiani started for the second time, with Tai Baribo lining up in front. The rest of the lineup was the same as last weekend in Miami: Jovan Lukic, Daniel Gazdag, Danley, and Quinn Sullivan in midfield, while the defense featured Argentine Ian Glavinovich and Jakob Glesnes at center and Frankie Westfield and Nate Harriel at fullback.

Despite the Union creating more chances with five shots to Orlando‘s none, neither team found the net. Orlando had some promising shots on goal, but goalkeeper Blake reminded us again why he was a three-time MLS Goalkeeper of the Year: Ojeda, Orlando‘s number 10, fed Pašalić a pass for the shot, but Blake took a deflection just in time for Glesnes and Glavinovich to break back and win the ball.

In the second half, Union came onto the pitch unchanged to try to find a goal, which almost came from a pass from Gazdag to Damiani, who slid in but couldn’t beat goalkeeper Pedro Gallese. Shortly after, Orlando had another attempt, which was also deflected by Andre Blake.

In the final minutes of the match, Cavan Sullivan came on to replace his brother Quinn as an attacking midfielder and nearly became the second-youngest scorer in MLS history. However, his deflected shot failed to find the back of the net.

The match ended in a draw that should have been a victory for the Philadelphia team. While there were no goals, there was a flurry of yellow cards and players lying on the ground to waste time, which made the match less exciting than expected. The Union will face New York City FC this Saturday hoping to earn more points and climb the table, above Leo Messi‘s Inter Miami and Columbus Crew, who leads with 15 points.
